just bought a new monitor to go along with my old 15 incher and when i put them side by side i get some interference between the two. how can this be fixed? will changing the refresh rate have any thing to do with this?

thanks for the help.

You are most probably experiencing electro-magnetic interference (EMI). The only way around this, short of enclosing at least one of the monitors in a metallic enclosure is to separate them enough so that the EMI from one does not affect the other much to be noticeable.

that is what i am having to do. the monitors are now separated by about 10 inches and no interference. kinda defeates the purpose of a dual monitor setup. oh well

What are the monitors in question?

Just curious... if the old 15" is a dog.. then it may be the culprit. Dump it for another decent monitor and all may be well :)

I have the same problem. A 4 year old 17" Trinitron and a new 17" Viewsonic. In fact, I'm thinking of dumping the dual monitor setup to get some desktop space back. I really didn't think this would be a problem after seeing other CRTs side-by-side (some a lot older than my Trinitron), but I'm not really happy with the results.
