I'm limited on space and was wondering if there is an alternative to achieve a seemless background without seemless paper?

Yeah, Photoshop.
Can be used to clone out things you dont want like seams.

Well, if it's black seamless you're looking to replace, you can just make sure that no light ends up on your background (which, admittedly, is easier said than done). Otherwise, it's gonna be tricky. Steamed muslin, maybe?

I used to use black or white material that can be folded up. Works great as long as you under or over expose the background to get wrinkles out.

No problem with underexposing to get black, but purposely blowing out a white background is going to do very bad things with regards to lens flare and light spill...
