the post processing forum is great and so is the share your photos forum. BUT what do you think about having another forum that you can discuss processing questions. I feel a bit uncomfortable asking processing questions in the "post" forum and/or the "share" forum.

Forgive me, gramps, but I'm not really understanding why you don't want to ask processing questions in the processing forum.
Guess I don't really don't have a handle on what it is you're proposing.

I was just under the impression that the post processing/printing forum was for questions directed towards "finished" photos and printing. If PhotoShop questions are ok there then thats great with me. I just don't want to get too far out of bounds of the different forums.

That's exactly what it's for. Bring on your questions!

" Post processing and printing;
Share you knowledge and tips how to process your digital negatives to the extreme and how to produce those great looking prints."
Definately gramps.. this is the forum to ask any and all questions to do with image files from the moment you get them out of your camera, right on up to framing :)

But I wonder does he have a point
The processing referred to is the camera processing i.e. once out of the camera.
Processing in many mags etc is also being used to mean manipulation/distortion/sharpening etc.

Samdring,
The existing processing forum is very open ended.. I do not see any need to further compartmentalise different aspects of the processing "process" ( :) ) into different forums.
As for "in camera processing"... most of these parameters are specific to the camera model,.. if these particular settings do not seem suitable to the "processing" forum.. the best place to discuss them is in the respective Camera forum... ie: "EOS", "G", etc...
Hope this helps :)

Sorry but you missed my point (or I didnt put it clearly)
What I meant is that the title is misleading not the content (or the need to compartmentalise)

Post processing means doing stuff to your files after you have the shots. At this point camera has already done its part (in-camera processing). If you shoot RAW then it is post-processing. Sharpening, retouching, converting, framing, colorprofiling, saving etc. - that is post-processing.
Processing in many mags etc is also being used to mean manipulation/distortion/sharpening etc.
And also here.
What would be your suggestion as a term describing digital post-shot processing?

Suppose the clearest would just be to take out the word 'post' from the title - 'Processing and Printing' or change to 'Image Processing and Printing'

As CDS has said, because in-camera processing is generally unique to specific camera types/models, that would best be discussed in the appropriate hardware board unique to the camera in question (i.e. EOS, compact, G-Series, etc).
Post processing techniques are common to all digital images after they've been downloaded from the camera.
It's my belief that the post-processing forum is appropriately named and should remain unchanged.
