Hey guys,
got a general consensuses question,
a parent, i'd assume, bought some prints of my baseball images, all 8x10's, when smugmug pro sent me the email with regards to the order.
When i looked at it, one of the 8x10's was cropped such that the feet is cropped out, however, there is enough space in the top to lower the crop to get a full foot and bat and everything.
question is, should I change the crop for the customer?

Yes, I owuld so that way you won't have to reprint that picture.

I would. I think most customers don't realize they can change the crop. If your worried about it send the customer an e-mail and ask them if they would like for you to adjust it for them.

I would re-crop as well. If they get the images with no feet, they'll assume it's the photographers fault, not theirs. If nothing else, show them the crop and let them decide knowing how it will look. They most likely don't know what they did and they will appreciate you trying to resolve the problem before they get their order in the mail.

It would be real nice if SmugMug/Znefolio software would allow photog to attach couple of crops (say 4:6, 8x10 etc) to one displayed image. In begining say you only have 2:3 uploaded (good for 4x6, 8x12 etc), when you get the order and client wants say 8x10, you upload another one in 8x10 format for printing only. If next guy wants 8x10, same 8x10 you uploaed gets used for prints. If he wants 4x6, it is also there ready for print. If now he/she wants 5x7, send me email so I can upload new 5x7.
Software should be able to read image dimensions to see if crop will fit or not, if not, email me the size and I can crop lot better than customers can.
This is just how I feel. But it seems SmugMug and other feels customer knows more.

For Smugmug pro users,
always always always put a proof delay on your for sale albums.
I contacted Smugmug after the comments here, they changed it for me, and told me about proof delays,
it allows me to adjust the crop, before it goes out for print.
thanx for the advice guys.

I always put a 4 day delay on my galleries.
