Hey~

I am having a problem in CS3. When I try to open Bridge, it won't. I click on the icon to open it, and all that happens is my pallettes to the right flash. I have to shut down my computer and restart it to get Bridge to open. Once I close bridge down...forget it! It won't open again until I shut the computer down. Any ideas?

I am working on a PC with Windows XP

Try opening Bridge via Photoshop (i.e. in PS hit Ctrl + Alt + O). Any luck?

My guess is this is a PC memory problem. How much RAM do you have?

Try holding down the CTRL+ALT+SHIFT combination immediately AFTER double-clicking the Bridge icon to start it. You will be presented with a dialog box with three options to reset Bridge to its factory defaults. Check all both boxes and click OK.

well, reboot your computer so that you know that Bridge will start if you double-click the icon. Once you're certain it will start, double-click the icon and immediately press and hold the CTRL+ALT+Shift combination.

OK if Ctrl + Alt +Shift doesn't work, try this:

1. Reboot
2. Go to Start > All Programs and now press and hold Ctrl BEFORE clicking on the Bridge icon

Hopefully Bridge will start and display the Purge, Reset Preferences & Default Workspace. Tick all three boxes.

Thank you, glad to be of assistance .

As to the problem, hard to tell but it seems that sometimes the preference files get corrupted and this causes PS/Bridge to act up.
