Is there any user option to display the actual date of posting (instead of 'xx days ago') in the thread listings and on each posting's frame when reading a thread?

Oh, I thought it was more helpful to have it like it is now :) Any particular reason to need to have the date?

It is not a user setting, so now we have to find out how does the majority want to have it....

It's not significant enough to me to ask you to do any more work than you already have. But since you asked my reasons, I look for the actual time and date of a post for a couple of reasons:

I eventually start to learn what time of day other correspondents usually post, which can be especially useful or interesting on fora, such as this one, which have a multi-national membership.
Sometimes I'm curious about when it was that *I* wrote something.
I can scan down the messages quickly to find the ones posted since I last read. (I know the forum software provides some alternate ways to accomplish this, but sometimes old habits die hard ;))

Pekka, if you're asking, I wouldn't see much use to have 'days ago' over one week - in fact, I could live with dates used before 'yesterday' - in other words, tell me hours up until it is one day old, then tell me 'yesterday', then if it is older than that show date and time. As jrobert mentioned, I also tend to note the time of day folks post, so '4 days ago' doesn't help much.

Another low priority, but since it came up...

I agree with that.
