When I reply to a thread, the thread then shows as "unread" for me even though my post is the last one. I have to re-open the thread in order for it to be displayed in a "read" state. This does not appear to be logical behaviour and can be quite annoying.

I am using Netscape Navigator 7.1

Yes that seems to happen. You can see "last post by YOU" there on thread list, though :)
I'll ask the developers about this soon...

And on the same theme, now you can hover and read, will the number of views be much less for a given thread?

As far as I can see it definately will be lower because it does not count Your own views on Your own threads - at least it seems that way, maybe Pekka can confirm that.
