how to download raw files to comp.

i just started shooting raw. and when i try to download them into my windows pictures it doesnt work. i am useing raw shooter and can edit them. but the only way i can save them is to convert to jpeg. i tried downloading them as documents but it put them all in my doc files seperatly. any help here.

You can download the canon raw codec from canons website and the pictures will show up in explorer. I dont use Raw Shooter so I cant help there but with CS3 and Bridge if I make changes in the raw file and dont open it to edit the picture it saves a second file that modifies the raw file when I open it back up. It never really replaces the raw file. Once I open it to edit it in CS3 it has to be saved back as a different file type. You never really want to make changes to your actual raw file anyway since that is basically your digital negative.
