that looks like a adult male crab spider on thew female.i wonder if he was trying to mate?

Thanks Toby, made me chuckle when taking them, didnt seem that bothered by the other spider till he moved towards the head and the meal, then he was quickly dismissed :D

Think he was just trying to get some free grub, he actually had caught something himself and was eating it.

Excellent shots- amazing scene to capture- the smaller spider is obviously a male crab spider wonder if it is the same species though ?

Brian,

It's the same species, the male is always smaller and darker. I don't know if he can change his body color or not...:confused:

To comment the shots,
This is a great find femal eating + male on her back, thats really interesting. Lucky you. I never had the chance to shoot that kind of action. I'm Jealous :lol:

Those are some really great shots you have there...and that male is very petite in comparison to the large yellow female.
