Exposure Program = Manual
ISO Speed Ratings = 400
Focal Length = 75mm
Flash = Flash fired, compulsory flash mode

Nice character portrait. Sharp and well focused. Nice choice of light ratio. The hot spots on the nose and brows are of no concern for me. They are acceptable trade-offs IMHO.

nomally i wouldn't shoot up into a face but it looks like you captured a sense of pride in this subject. i do miss those sunsets.

i lived in Ubon and traveled through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. i wasn't there visiting and was mostly active at night. back then photography was my hobby.

My -only- complaint about this shot is the subjects choice of attire! With that face, this guy should be dressed in something of a more tradition sense if not imperial robes!

Other than that, this is a lovely shot!

yea.. the arrrie is a bit off.. also again shooting up.. I can totally see in his nose.. but the exposure and colors make up for it

Posing a subject looking down at the camera will usually induce an aura of superiority or pride and/or both. IHMO, this instance is not an extreme downward angle. Usually, its not appropriate to shoot up into a subject's nose, but if the nose were caucasion this angle probably wouldn't be an issue.

After all, this portrait wasn't really meant to be a glamour shot but rather more of a documentary or character portrait. This genre/style resembles a pic that might be found on the pages of National Geographic rather than GQ. It looks to me as if this specific portrayal was indeed intentional and captures the character very well.
