Welcome to the SAQs page for "Seldom Asked Questions".
Got an idle question about a trivial point? Post it here and see if you can get your answer.
Know something cool about POTN that you think most people haven't noticed?
Know a tasty obscure photography-related fact: heaviest lens (Hubble?), f ratio of a spider's eye (f/0.5?), fastest light flash used for image capture (femtoseconds?), photographer most often featured on the cover of LIFE magazine (no idea - one of the Magnum group?)
Put it in the form of a question, stump your fellow-POTNers, then astound them with your erudition by revealing the answer.
I'll start with an easy one.
Q: Which member has made the greatest number of posts without being blessed by the Title Fairy?

I asked what the CFN "Add original decision data" actually did yesterday and got informed that it has to do with the Data Verification Kit and will only slow your camera down if you have it on and don't use the kit.. so keep it off! ;)
I'd been idly wondering about that one on and off for a couple of years, never when near a computer to look it up.

Not including moderators - CanonLoader.
Not so - "Cream of the Crop" (eww!) has been bestowed upon that member by the Title Fairy.

http://photography-on-the.net/forum/member.php?find=lastposter&t=510933I don't believe "Cream of the Crop" is a Title Fairy title. I was under the impression that it's part of the title progression that begins with "Junior Member". However, I could be mistaken. All you have to do is look at my title to know that !

Good point.
Seeing the gorgeous bird image as avatar, and the use of the word "crop", part of a bird's digestive system, I assumed it was a pun, hence my "Ewww!" comment.
There I go under-observing and over-thinking again.
Still, this brings up another trivial question:
Q: What are the default member titles and at what levels do they apply?

Could "Junior Member" go from 0 to 99? I seem to remember "graduating" on my hundredth post. I can confirm that the transition to "Goldmember" is 2000, that being my most recent milestone here.
...and when does "Cream of the crop" kick in? 10k??

It's not 100. See below. Jim G in post #2 of this thread is CotC with 7K posts. I believe it starts at 5K.

and the use of the word "crop", part of a bird's digestive system
Wow, did someone besides me grow up with an obsessive mother who hand fed baby parrots? My mom is a fantastic breeder, but I too am familiar with a crop as a part of a bird's anatomy. Having hand fed parrots as a child, it's really a spectacular thing to have the chance to know first hand what exactly happens to a bird when you feed it.

didn't grow up with the obsessive mom...but became one!! After having my cockatiel for about 5 years, my newspaper lady gave me a male that was abusing himself from some stress. We got him to stop that and even tho he remained evil to the core (he would rip my hands to shreds if I even tried to remove his empty food dish!) he "hooked up" with my girl and she laid 3 eggs...only one of which hatched, She passed away when "baby" was about a month old...and I became momma.
I miss my birds!

What is the origin of "meh" on POTN?

I've heard/seen it in other contexts; I take it to be an expression of ambivalence. As to its origins, I've no idea. There's what I think to be a good definition -->here (http://www.unwords.com/unword/meh.html)<-- and an interesting article -->here (http://www.slate.com/id/2159929/pagenum/all/)<-- about this and similar words, FYI.
