I've just been reading an article regarding film vs. digital.
It was discussing the new Canon EOS-1Ds Mark 11, and with it's 16.6 MP it is now better than the quality of film.
I would like to know how they measure this quality, I have a 10D, Canon lens and a Canon i850 printer, and I print of 5x7 or 8x10 prints.
Before changing to digital, I had a Canon Elan 11 (Film) and had either 4x6 or 5x7 prints made, and I really believe the 10D give far greater quality than any prints I've had done in the past on film. This includes using a professional lab.
It took me a long time to make the change too digital, but there is no way I would ever go back to film.

I think if you're referring to the same article I read, they discuss their testing. Same lens, same ISO, same location, tripod mounted and then did a crop (shown in article) and visually compared the quality. It's not real clear in the article but you can see major grain in the film crop. I think basically that was their simple test, they cropped and printed large (I don't have article in front of me).

I think they could have done a better job of going over the details of that.

So in essence, it was cropped enlargement to do the comparrison, they also mentioned twice the color accuracy but didn't go in the details as I recall on how they determined this fact.

Now regarding this topic, I'm sure it's been discussed a bazzion times by now somewhere in the forum. :)

Glad you like your 10D. I like mine as well. I do have a 1DS Mark II which I purchased for doing larger images, faster performance and full frame. I still own/use the 10D however. Will likely upgrade it at some point but no immediate plans.

I sitll havnt seen an 8x10 or larger print from iso 400+ film that matches an ISO 400+ digital 8x10 or larger.

The largest sensor i've ever owned was 6.1
