I recently got both the Lee and Rosco Gel Sample Packs and have been using them on my Nikon SB-24 flashes. I was attaching using blue tape which while functional left a lot to be desired. So I decided to come up with a gel holder, took some plexiglass, bent it, added some velcro and made a very functional holder.

I have construction details available on my blog (http://www.craigcolvin.com/blog/?p=19)

1. You use the term "heat strip" to bend the plexi. explain, links?
2. Also does the plexi, although clear impart any brightness loss? (test it on but without gel)
3. Also, are the gels still big enough to impart their color even whenthey are held away from the flash the small distance (any banding without color at top or bottom of frame?)
4. Also do the bends in the plexi cause darkness in the flash out put in the form of lines?
5. Also, sample shots?

Nikon makes gels that just slip in but wont fit on the 580 but do fit real well on the Metz 58

Wow this is the best idea I've seen so far! Now I just need a heat strip or some alternative to bending the plexiglass
