The salesman told me at 9:30 when he got there, 30 minutes before opening, there were over 200 people waiting on line to enter, whereas there's usually 50 on a Sunday.

I got there around 12:30 and it was its usual crowded atmosphere, but plenty of knowledgeable salespeople to help. Wound up adding to my 17-40, 100 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 IS by getting the 28-135 IS. I've been wanting a small yet wide range zoom to carry around. I did stand there and drool at the 1d Mark II and the 1ds Mark II, but didn't pull the trigger. Here I am saying I'm looking for small and thinking of those two solid hewn blocks of magnesium. I want 'em.

I'm not quite sure. A nice car doesn't necessarily make you a better driver, but it's sure nice to have.

Good point. Would you rather have a Toyota or a Ferrari? Both cars will get you to your destination in around the same time, and the Toyota is probably more comfortable, but many people would choose the Ferrari.

I'm happy with my 300D, and I don't see an upgrade in my immediate future. The camera isn't limiting me, my skills are, so i'm working on them first.

However the diverisity of interesting objects and positions are far more possible with the posturing from a Ferrari, than from the humble Toy. And to further expand our horizons in this dynamic field, one owes oneself that unobtainable view from the Italian connection.

driving a toyota to the edge, practicing hard every day, will teach you just how far you can push a toyota. it will sharpen your driving skills. but it just doesn't get you noticed, unless you help people to notice you.

driving a ferrari to the edge, practicing hard every day, will teach you just how far you can push a ferrari. it will sharpen your driving skills further than simply pushing a toyota. and it's much easier to get noticed.

but just simply driving around a ferrari because you can tends to make a lot of people think 'show-off', or 'wanker'. they will also really notice if you don't drive the ferrari well. and someone who has learned to push the toyota to the edge could easily get behind the wheel of the ferrari and push it to the edge, and people would be quite impressed.

what does this all mean??? i don't know. i drive a beetle... but i use a 1dmkii and a 10d and i keep practicing with both.

my sister, the sports journalist, uses a ni*on 2dh. on my recent trip to spend time with the family, we swapped cameras to take my niece's soccer games. she loved the 1dmkii. i hated hers - i guess because it was so non-intuitive. i've driven her honda, but i'd *never* let her drive my beetle!!

Well... I don't know what you guys are comparing with what, but it's not Toyota/Ferrari.

It's not even close...

It's like saying... I have a Porsche (sp?) but to really race it I need to put a turbo charger on it. I NEED the turbo charger...

WHY?

I have really limited experience driving and even less racing, but IMO you learn the most from the little cart carts... Proper turns... how to pass... etc...
