What can I do to make this better? I couldn't do anything about the cars and telephone polls infront of the buildings. How can I make this shot better?

I don't know. What is the subject? Why include all the empty pavement and power lines? I have no idea what you are trying to say with this photo.

I wanted to get the building in the middle. I couldn't get any closer to the street. I also wanted to get the church in the background. I need to go back late so then I can get closer to the street when there is no traffic.

I don't see anything worth taking a photo of in that pic.

I agree with whats been said.

Sometimes my eyes will see a scene and i'll think to myself "This would make a good photograph". So i'll spend some time framing the shot, then setting up the camera and i'll snap a picture. Often, based simply on whats on the LCD i'll know if it's going to work or not.

Obviously i'll try something else with the same scene, but sometimes you just have to admit to yourself that your eyes were misleading you here. A great photographer is great because he/she is great in communicating what their eyes actually see to what they invision as a photograph. I think this is just a case of your eyes misleading your photographic mind.
