Ok, which one would you chose.

We're talking middle grade digital SLR's here (so, no $8,000 1ds MKII's)

Why does it say I've already voted in this poll when I'd never seen it until just now?

It would be easier to answer your poll if you specified film vs. digital. I have a Nikon F5 that is better then anything anyone has ever made in 35mm SLR, IMHO. Digital on the other hand goes to Canon.

Can't answer because the only Nikon I've had experience with was a CoolPix 995.

Somewhat off-topic, but I was talking to a camera store owner in Palm Springs, and he said Canon has been much friendlier to dealers than Nikon who refuses to sell him high-end pro equipment. Apparently they're trying to maintain their mystique by not allowing their high-end gear into consumer-level retailers.

That's a topic for a whole different thread, but I really think he was referring to the smaller independent dealers.

Too Late I have a 1DsMkII allready,
but the answer is Canon because they have the 1DsMkII and I want lenses that fit it.

Plus the much anticipated 1D2 killer wasn't, the 1DsMkII killer is still not here (although rumours of real cameras have surfaced) and it just barely passes the 1Ds m1 overall and it is not FF on top of everything else.

I think Nikon is going down the wrong path in the long run with thier 1.5x sensor size, but that is only my opinion. So Canon all the way for me.

Almost forgot, the 20D dusts the D70.

I have a pair of Nikon binoculars that I use for birding. I wouldn't mind trying to attach that thing on to my camera. Does that count? :?

I think everyone his taking this the wrong way.. longwatcher, he said directly above your statement that were not talking about your 8000 dollar camera.

Anyways, I would say Canon Body, Nikon Glass. i've heard that Nikons have weaker color replication, slower speeds, lower megapixels, more noise, etc etc. But then I've also heard their glass blows Canon away. So going on what i've heard, Canon body, Nikon Glass.

I thought about this all afternoon, and finally voted for Nikon body and Canon glass. My reasoning is that the current Canon lens lineup is second to none, but bodies are superceded every year or two. If the Canon body is better today, that could all change a year from now.

I'd be interested in seeing some work from your 1ds MKII and showing us some of your work from an older camera, then we could compare some stuff.

Well, that was a hard question. I chose the Canon glass, but I'm not really sure that I'd find a Nikon body to my liking. Nor can I say that I wouldn't...

You mean Nikon F5 is better than the new Nikon F6? Sorry, I couldn't resist.
