i like the photo titled Breath it's the best one among all. Low Light seems to be a factor in few photographs

Timmy,

You're certainly on the right lines - you have a nice selection of images there.

However, for your portfolio submission, you need to be very self-critical to show your best 10 images.

At the moment there are too many pics in your gallery to critique them all individually. Therefore it might be an idea to apply some rigid criteria to filter these down to a smaller number.

For example, ask yourself the following:

1. Is the exposure 100% spot on - i.e. are there blown-out highlights OR is there any noticeable underexposure?
2. Has the correct shutter speed been used - i.e. to completely freeze the action OR to emphasise motion?
3. Is the colour balance right?
4. Is the composition of the image correct - i.e. is it cropped tightly enough?
5. Does the image show peak action and/or does the image capture the atmosphere/emotion of the sport being photographed?
6. Is the image post-processed correctly - e.g. not oversharpened, etc?
7. Has the correct depth of field been used - e.g. to isolate the subject from the background?

If the answer to all these questions is yes - than that could well be a portfolio image. Obviously some aspects of this judgement are purely subjective - but you need to have a framework to work with. Also, you will probably have your own criteria to add to this list - these are just a few of the questions I ask myself when critiquing my own work.

Try and show some variety - but that doesn't necessarily mean 10 pics of 10 different sports - you could show 10 b-ball images if they show a variety of action/angles/emotions etc...

Once you've got the selection down to about 15 pictures, I'm sure all the ss.com members here would be happy to critique them again individually to help you work towards your final 10.

It's an organic process - your next shoot may well provide you with some more images to add to the mix!

Good luck,

gmen

Do you have a current member willing to sponsor you? JMO, but you have to pay $25 a year for a membership. They shouldn't be so strict with the photo requirements on top of that.

I think I saw "Breath" on FM. IMO it's the only shot of that bunch worthy of a portfolio; they're decent shots, but each one has some sort of issue with it. A portfolio shot should be perfect.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Looking back at the football photos from earilier this year i realized how poor the yreally were .

Anyways, this isnt a port. it's just my best sports images of 2004 (which really equates to the last 6 months)

I looked at some of your portraits and some of those are pretty good...
