Shot Montgomery Gentry for the first time early this month. They had way too much smoke and it dissipated very slowly during the three song limit. And the lighting was much harsher and dimmer than usual so I jacked up the ISO along the way.

#1 Obligatory Collage

If this is the result under difficult conditions with smoke and harsh light, it is difficult to differentiate this terrific set from those that are shot under perfect settings! As always, what strikes me most are the energy, sharpness and the vivid colors in your shots. My favorites are #5 (what an expression!) and #8 - the "picture frame" quality of capturing the stage sides, lighting rig and the monochrome audience seem to direct the viewer's eye even more so on the band. Viewing your sets always help with new ideas and pointers. Thanks for sharing -

Seeing shots like this is what makes me keep going out and trying to shoot live performances. Outstanding!

You guys are very kind and I appreciate the input. When you see my .sig below that I am talking about my concert shooting in my blog you might want to follow it ... but that may be a few months as I am currently reviewing my equipment. I don't use my blog as a gallery but more to explain what I am doing and how I do it.

That must be one of the worst lighting jobs I've seen of the Casino...
Okay images, but they suffer from the (lack of) lighting quality. Way too much frontal lighting.

Well, they had their own LD and they wanted lots of smoke for the entrance. I think they did better later on ... about the time I left. :-0

Yes, #7 is about a good amount of smoke.
