Recently got asked by a friend to photograph his wedding. All was going well and had taken over 200 pictures. Started to take some pictures during the evening and my canon 300d stopped working all of a sudden. It reported an err02, soemthing wrong with the CF card. Placed a new CF card in and continued to take pictures. In the morning plugged the CF card that had played up into my laptop and nothing!!! The laptop doesn't detect that a card is plugged in. Tried other CF cards and they all work. The problem is all the pictures during the afternoon are on this card. Does anybody know of a way of recovering this card? Or do you know a company that will recover this card?

Equipment used : Canon 300d and a 1gb PQI F1 40x CF card

If the PC won't even recognise the presence of the compact flash card then it sounds as though it has failed totally. This is not good news. Even image rescue software won't help you much if it can't see the card. It might be worth trying another card reader but that really is a long shot.

Perhaps you could contact the card manufacturer (not the vendor)? Lay it on a bit thick about how all the wedding photographs have been lost etc. explain that you've asked for help on many internet forums (I can't imagine they would want negative publicity about their product). They may be able to help.

Actually, the camera DID detect the CF card.

If the camera detects no CF card present, it will display "No CF Card". But if it detects the CF card and can't write to it at all, then "Err 02" is displayed. Probably nine times out of ten, this is a CF card fault, and it other CF card work here, then that makes it pretty sure.
