Am I damaging my 580EX II's rubber foot thing

If you're worried about it just take it off.Then all you have to worry about is finding it when you need it:D

If you taped it (the umbrella adapter)you should be good. As long as the contacts dont touch the metal.

Im not sure why claybuster suggested you take the rubber off (maybe he was joking) but good luck getting it back on

I wasn't joking about taking it off,I"ve had mine off and on a few times. Just put it back on the way you took it off.

I feel bad that I told the OP to take the rubber part off his flash and he can't get it back on . Has anyone else ever taken it off and put it back on? I have no trouble at all getting mine back on!

I figured it out, it stretches a bit, and then goes back on... whew... I now feel confident doing that, thanks....
