State Baseball from the weekend.

I was sent to the 4A baseball tournament a couple hours away from my city because one of the local teams was in the tournament. I shot them Friday evening. They won so they played the semi-finals Saturday at noon but they lost, so I was sent to the 3A Championship game (another semi-local team was there playing) and shot those last night. I've only shot baseball one other time. But I don't think I did half bad for a second attempt. I talked with a good friend who is on staff at the newspaper and he gave me some tips and tricks. But I'm always looking for more.

Friday's game was tough because I was just getting in to things when it got dark and I hit deadline. Saturday's first game wasn't too bad and I was getting better shots. But I was getting really great shots in the championship game. But it started at 7:30 and I was on an 8:30-9:00 deadline. And the coffee shop that had wifi that I sent from was on the other side of the town. So I only got to shoot for about a half hour.

Faces are a good thing. You stopped some good action, but too many of the shots do not have a face in them.

The first one isn't in focus and is noisy. To me it isn't really a keeper. I think that the throw to first base would have been better focusing on the infielder (can't tell position that far in on the grass), as he is facing you.

My only comment, as a sports editor, I like to see both a player from the team I am interested in, and the opposition, so it shows time and place of the event. (not always of course). Your last two are my favorites. For a "rookie" at baseball, you did quite well.

The one's that went to print did have faces. These were just some others I thought I'd throw up to get some feedback on. Thanks for the responses. I'll keep it all in mind next time I shoot baseball.
