Hello All,
Want to ask a very silly question... Does Metz 58 AF-1 and 48 AF-1 support PC plug? The syn plug that allow for triggering flash via Cable?
Thanks

The 58 AF-1 doesn't so I'm going to assume the 48 AF-1 doesn't either. You'll need to use a hotshoe to PC adapter if you want to trigger either of them via a PC sync cable.

Damm....
How can a such fine Flash System... Doesn't have a PC syn Plug....
Telling the truth....
I like METZ more then CANON ones....
It is a shame that don't have a build in PC syn Plug....
Thanks anyway

Considering that you couldn't even fire the Metz 58 AF-1 off-camera when the flash came out, it's not surprising that it doesn't have a PC port. Off-camera use was not one of its intended functions when it was designed. It was only after complaints from users that Metz came out with a firmware update that now allows it to fire off-camera.

I have both the Canon 580EX II and the Metz 58 AF-1. I hardly ever use the Metz but use the Canon flash all the time. So, I guess, it's just a matter of personal preference which brand one likes. :)

Leo and I'm just the opposite. One thing I do like about the 580 is the Metz 58 doesn't sync higher than 1/125 but as far as indoor flash I give the edge to the Metz.

You actually can sync the Metz at whatever max sync speed your camera offers. It's just that when the flash needs to fire at full power, you won't get the benefit of the full power of the flash (i.e. the shot will be underexposed by about one stop).

Sorry yes you are correct.

I have added an Aux Sync Jack to many different brands of flash units, even the Metz 54 MZ-4i, so I imagine it shouldn't be too difficult to do the same for these other Metz units as well. The advantage to having the Aux sync Jack over just a hot shoe adapter, is that you can EITHER use the flash on camera, and trigger a radio transmitter without connecting to the camera PC jack, OR use the flash off camera connected to a radio receiver.
