heres a picture I took of a Kilo class sub (the Alrosa) passing the "Moscow" missile cruiser in Sevastopol harbor, the second is a old school sailing ship, i honestly don't know its story but it was part of the comemoration of the Crimean War which was fought in, around and over Sevastopol... maybe not the best editing on my part but its a cool if you are into this stuff, enjoy

Andrushka - i was in from 72 to 93. first couple of years in the surface navy then three fast attacks - Sea Devil, Bluefish and Hammerhead. Nice pic of the kilo not to mention the tall ship above. I'm just getting back into photography after many many years away. Great pics on flickr too! I've just begun putting a website together at www.fredsmagicmoments.com.

Thanks Eagle, when i get to them i will post some goodies, of some pretty interesting ships... it was a cool event, most of the ships fired off at least one gun of some sort as they past through the harbor, and they had a special forces demonstrations and some BMP's on the harbor breakwater firing off their canons and some WWII reenactments, fun stuff for military/history buffs...

Fred - 21 years! dang, thats a career :-) fast attacks huh? got any good stories of hunting Soviet subs?? im sure you do...
thanks for the compliments... i checked out your website as well, very nice, clean layout, i like the flash menu on the top... nice photos too!

Hunting Soviet subs? Ahh those were the good old days for sure. Course if I told my stories little black helicopters would come and take me away!

Fascinating shots, love that sailing ship one! thanks for sharing.

Edit...Just found this on the sailing ship "Pallada":
Pallada is the fifth ship of the Dar Mlodziezy-class built in Gdarmsk, Poland during the 1980’s. Unlike her white- hulled sisters, Pallada has a black hull with false gunports and resembles the great Russian Barque Kruzenshtern. She is named for the Greek goddess Pallas Athena. She is owned by Dalryba, a conglomerate of fishing companies, and offers sail training to foreign marine-college cadets.

Good shots. with false gunports NO fun! I suppose we have to expect that from a conglomerate of fishing companies. ;)

Thanks for the info on the Pallada - interesting stuff... (p.s. - Do you read Russian?) I hadn't even thought of looking it up

funny stuff with the false gun ports... there were ships firing off canons (old school style) but not the Pallada, how cool would it be if they had canons in every port and fired off a full broadside?? that would keep me coming back...
