View Full Version : Pic with Canon A75 too dark

I am shooting pictures of bicycle frames against a backdrop of a white garage door. My cheaper Polaroid PDC1100 did fine with auto mode, but with A75 pics seem dark.
This pic is taken in autofocus mode. The frame is purple and white, not the blue it came out.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I'm no expert on te technical sde but I would say that there is too much white in the picture which is confusing the auto white balance - if you can set a custom WB then it may work better.
You can try to correct the WB in Photoshop using the levels.
You also have some vignetting in the corners of the image.

What color is the garage door?

Use your histogram when your shooting. If you use it and get a even spread (for lack of better words) you can get the exposure correct. I figured this out last night by shooting mannnual and reading my histogram.
Your histogram for this image may be pushed to the dark side (left side), So you may need to overexpose a bit, or use a different background.

Not sure what software you are using on your PC. But it is easily fixed by removing some green and blue with colour levels in Photoshop CS. I know this doesn't help with the taking of the photo, but can give you results form one that has gone wrong.
