Thanks, I got lucky. It was taken in the hotel under a skylight. A lot of processing to try and fix those shadows and edit out the background muddle. I'd love any critique/feedback. Original photo:

Pretty good edit I'd say. (As far as I can tell on web size)

Yup, yup, but more than that it is a powerful image with romantic and sensual overtones. Would go up on my wall.

Amazing picture. I know nothing about the Cosplay scene and I don't need to. A real keeper.

Thank you so much everyone, I'm extremely flattered! I edited this on my new computer, wasn't sure if the results would be decent. I appreciate the feedback!

Awesome capture. Love the light. You clipped the highlights a quite a bit though. :(

Psst! The name's Aeris. :D Or in some circles, Aerith.
In case nobody's familiar with the dude, it's the iconic Cloud.
Yes, I play the final fantasy series.

Sorry, could you explain "clipped"? I haven't hard that term before. I tried to bring some out using the burn or dodge tool (one of those, I never use 'em so I forget which) but it failed pretty miserably.. especially on the girl's hair and the guy's face. I think the original is posted somewhere in here.
Again so many thanks, if anyone wants to tweak it to show me what could be done better please feel free to do so.

It means you overexposed the picture and there's no detail in those areas.
There's two ways you can overexpose - really blow everything out to complete white, meaning all three channels are 255. Or you can clip one of the channels only and you'll lose information in the reds in faces, which is what happened with your picture.
It's less noticeable, but makes the picture appear somewhat "flat"

using the burn or dodge tool
Ouch.
Have a read here (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/essays/Curves.shtml) and here (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/Cramer_Selections.shtml), and start using curves adjustment layers ;)

I know! Tsk on me! It was my first time using dodge/burn, I had already used curves, shadow/highlights, and used d/b to accent some areas I couldn't fix without the entire image getting messed up. I need a better workflow. Thanks for the links!

The nice thing about adjustment layers is that you can mask them ;)
So whatever you do is reversible, adjustable, undo-able and a lot of other "ables" ;)
