I want to take photos of Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium that would be sold from a coop art gallery that I belong to. The college world series will be here soon and we always get requests for photos from people in town for the series. The city owns the stadium and it will soon be torn down and the land will become part of the Zoo. So, I'm wondering if I need to get a release or anything. These will be outside pictures of the stadium only. Obviously, part of the package will be that the stadium name will be fully visible in the photos. After trying to get a building permit for a garden shed, I would dred trying to get a release from the city government. Any help would be appreciated.

It's visible from a public location and it's your building (you are the government) - I would go for it. Now buildings that are not owned by the public can be a bit stickier as they can be construed as service marks for certain businesses or owners.

The CWS website has contacts for you to call and ask that question...don't ever just go for it without knowing for sure. I know three ex-baseball photographers who just went for it and got banned for life from ever shooting in a pro stadium again for selling unlicensed photos they assumed were ok (well 2/3 assumed, the 3rd guy knew and did it anyways). Yea, I know pro ball and all but it's not much different than the NCAA and there regulations. The stadium might be public but other things may not be, so give them a call and find out - though it's a busy time and you really probably should have asked this question back in January when it wasn't so busy - cutting it a bit short now.
