I spent a very enjoyable Sunday morning down at the Tees Barrage to take some pictures of the opening round of the British Jetsport Championship. Great to watch, but conditions made things challenging for photography. The sun was very strong, and a gusty wind was blowing the spray straight down the barrel of the lens. Made life interesting though!
Anyway, enough waffle, on to some pictures: -
#1 Freestyle trick riding - loonies the lot of them!

#7 Another loony in the freestyle competition

#8 Visibility must have been non existant at times for the competitors

All in all, a great way to spend a few hours on Sunday morning. All of these were taken with a 1D mk II and a Sigma 120-300 f2.8. For those that are interested, there's a full gallery on my website: -

Superb set there Simon. I must admit it was a very pleasant way to kill a few hours on a Sunday morning :)
Mine should be up later today. Like yourself i have more shots from 2 hours or so of this than i usually manage in a full weekend of racing

Thanks Geoff. I really enjoyed the 3 or 4 hours I spent down at the barrage. I was just disappointed I couldn't get along on the Saturday as well.
Cheers,
Simon.

Great set of pictures, but for me the second picture is the "Stand Out Shot"
Point of interest, which lens did you use please?
EDIT....Drivers in the freestyle don't have Hard Hats on, why the difference?

Cracking stuff Simon. The freestyle stuff looks quite mad - I like it! Think the sun's helped out here, added a nice brightness to the water, can imagine images could have looked a bit "dull" without the sun - I think you know what I'm trying to say anyway !

Glad you like 'em :D.
There certainly were a lot of cameras about on Sunday morning. As for the freestylers, well they didn't really float my boat if I'm honest. It was entertaining to watch the first few barrel rolls and flips, but after that it was all a bit samey for me. I much prefered the racing which I thought was spectacular.
Cheers,
Simon.

Neither - I was on the footpath that runs along side the river. The jetskis get fairly close in!
