I have been contacted to do some work (photo/video) in Boston ( I am in Canada)
Do I need a work permit or Visa?
And if so, anybody have any idea where to get one? or apply for one?

I am not aware of any such requirement.
There are some things that you will be told not to photograph but I really think that is up to debate.
Unless of course it is not a public place/building/etc.

I am doing a wedding Photo/Video session.
I am more concerned will all the equipment I will be taking, it will be obvious that I am not a tourist.
I don't even know where to begin and the it being the hollidays, I imagine there will be no-one to talk to at any govermnet run building until the new year. :(

Check with the US Embassy or Consulate in Canada before you travel to the US.
I don't think you will need any special work permit since you will only be in the States for a short amount of time. But to be ready for anything I'd contact at least a travel agent and find out what they say.
Good luck and if traveling by air you may want to find out about additional luggage insurance for your equipment since standard luggage protection will not cover commercial equipment nor luggage in excess of a certain dollar amount.

Are you being paid? Is the couple Canadian and your going with them? Is there going to be an official record of the transaction? Where is payment being made?
If this is an American couple that have hired you, you will probably need a work permit (Good luck!)
Are you travelling with the couple and can say your going to the wedding and your pictures are your own. You are a tourist.
If there is any kind of official (American) receipt or payment, you will probably need a work permit. Again, good luck.
Being Canadian and having worked often in the States, they are very protective of their jobs. Just like Canada.
If this is business and your customer is American, your chances of a work permit are really slim. They must show that there is no American available or has the particular skill they require.
Contact the American Customs and Immigration for better, more acurate, descriptions.
I did all my permits right at the airport as I flew out, and I made sure my i's were dotted and t's crossed.
Good luck

Also, if you get a work permit and they pay you here, the IRS may wish to relieve you of some of your burden.
