So once in awhile I fancy myself as a semi-intelligent individual. Having just had my rabies vaccinations, I asked myself what better way to test its effectiveness than to grab a hold of a bat and take its picture, of course needing the flash. Who knows, they could have just injected me with a placebo! I'll show them ;)
I was able to get one, and only one picture before he went, forgive the pun, batpoo crazy. Straight off the camera, but I'll see what I can do with edits after the holiday.
When we close the umbrellas by the pool at night, these little guys usually sleep the night off underneath. But occasionally a late sleeper remains.

Bugged me too much just leaving it untouched. The hairs just looked oversharpened even though neither picture got hit with any sharpening.
Anyway, just something minor to ease my mind for awhile

Meh, goes with the title I suppose, so I'll throw this one in here too.
I was extremely excited I actually got a nice shot from this particular series. Camera rig held arm's length straight up in the air, one eye closed trying to guesstimate focus. Straight out of camera no less - +5 to saturation only in CS3's Camera RAW.

I increased the yellows a bit then increased the saturation by ~8-12, very slightly blurred just the fur, and had a few curves adjustment layers. I then did a Find Edges filter and had it on... darken or multiply, and varied the opacity of that with a mask.

Great shots - unusual, I'd love to have bats around to photograph like that.

All are excellent shots.
The 'taken blind' one is particularly effective.
