I'm hesitant to post this because the purists will eat me alive but I was playing around with my 40D today and figured out that I can turn my 70-300 into a 1500 lens! Before buying the 40D I had a Canon S3 and loved it. I had purchased a Raynox 2020 to power up the telephoto capability to about 950mm and it worked real well. Anyway, today I attached a Kenko 1.4 TC to the 40D and mounted the 70-300. With the 1.6 crop factor the camera and lens are actually 480mm...multiply by 1.4 and now you're at 672mm. Add the Raynox 2020 (another multiplier of 2.2) and you get 1478mm! I know this sounds crazy but I was able to hand hold the camera (the lens length is embarrassing) and get a shot of a house more than a block away and read the numbers above the door! I'm going to Yellowstone in September and was concerned about reaching the long distance wolf and grizzly shots but not anymore! (NOTE: If you don't add the Kenko 1.4 TC the 40D will actually Autofocus when the Raynox 2020 is attached. Unbelieveable!)

I can only guess what the quality is going to look like.

Yeah, we definitely want to see some photos since I doubt the quality is anything but below acceptable.

I'm sure 300mm with teleconverters would be better than a 300mm lens zoomed in 3x.

How many stops of light did you lose? You're at least at f/8 by now?

How does this compare to the Opteka's 1300mm lens? :)

How does this raynox thing attach exactly? Is it just screwed into the filter threading? Wow.
