Canon lenses that work on your 500 will work on the D30 and D60, with a 1.6x effective increase in focal length (for example, a 50mm lens on a D body will appear to have the view angle of an 80mm lens on a film body). Because of this factor, you may find the need to purchase a new ultra-wide lens (14 to 20mm) if you need to do wide angle shots.

Third party lenses that work on the 500 may work on the D30/D60, but I also gather there are some Sigma and Tokina ones that need upgrading to work with all the latest EOS bodies.
