As you have no doubt seen on news and though there might be a thread on here allready Kalita Air 747 cargo crashed on take off,
I'm working in brussels at the moment and cargo planes had been taking off over my flat all day even after this crash but this plane crashed on the different shorter runway normally used for cross winds,
i did hear all the fire engines go past my flat but thought it must have been a crash on the motorway that is close by. miss out there really should have gone for a wonder but not really into ambulance chasing.
This is a sister aircaft going over my flat a month earlier. as you can see i'm quite close to the end of the runway, when aircraft take off in the other direction you can smell the burnt fuel.

I'm so happy the crew are OK but this is an incredibly sad end for such a beautiful aircraft. RIP old girl... :(
Nice photos, by the way!

It's actually snapped in three bits, tail section is stuffed into the fuse, and then behind the wingbox,
lucky it was a freighter and not a passenger plane or it might have been a very sad story.
as for tv etc i was too late, these were taken monday night crash was sunday dinner, heard all the fire engines but though it was on the motorway, if there is a nice sunset or smething i'll go down again, it's out the way where it is so doubt they are in a great rush to move it.
another for you,

Great shots. It is amazing the way it has snapped at the tail and just in front of the wings. Thanks God they weren't in the air and hit turbulence.
Hope the relevant air authorities check other planes of this type and vintage, some may be flying passenger routes. After all, they just bolt the seats in when they need 'em. Scarey stuff.

Think it broke up due to crashed due to overshooting the runway after aborting the take off, going on whats on other forums, there was meant to be a large bang which is why they aborted, but a fuse breaking would not be a bang if it got up i would think it would have done a circuit. (EDIT looking at the pics i took tonight, there is about 15 foot drop at the tail of the ground, the plane going over that would have no doubt broken it's back being loaded.)
but it should have been able to stop if it aborted before V1 (take off speed) going on spotter doing the length of the runway and the weight of the plane, don't why it did not we will see.
they are pumping out the fuel out of the right wing tonight, yesterday there was a smell of fuel down wind so i was leaking, but no wind tonight,
i only work on aircraft for a job not a spotter so others will know alot more, www.airliners.net is a great place for pics if you don't allready know, some geat pictures on there, i wish i was able to use my dslr in work as i see great pics every day maybe there is a job in there somewhere.

I chuckled at the picture that has the guy with the P&S in it. Did you do that intentionally or just get it by chance? Great shots overall!

Great pics! The one of the "sister" ship is outstanding. I guess it is pretty noisy around your place. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, that is absolutely amazing, thank you for sharing.
On a side note, you should put your shot with the guy with the P&S in the "Photographers" thread.

Nice shots. Kalitta Air is based at Willow Run Airport, Ypsilanti, MI. The same Willow Run where Ford Motor Company built B-24s for WWII. Not far from my house.

I drive by the place often when cruising my Mustang or motorcycle.
