some from mon nights game...no strobes this time, it was in the stadium and the ceiling is just too high to mount them anywhere good. We're trying to figure it out...

I like the second shot quite a bit. You caught Furman's #5 pushing off hard with her left arm. Wonder if she got called for the foul. Good exposures on all the shots.
BTW, where are all the fans? Here in Connecticut every game's a sellout. You can't buy a seat for men's or women's UConn games for less than double face value.
Keep 'em coming.

she didnt get called...our girls games our dirty, I had one full charge photo that was out of focus...it would have been awesome
Our guys games packs out pretty well, not a sellout but a good crowd, but the minidome sits almost 10,000...they cut the seating area down in half and over xmas break I doubt it will fill
I got assigned the mens game tonight, Im shooting solo this time...that womens game was my 4th game on the line...so fingers crossed I dont mess it up, should be my first time getting published as well :) we'll have to wait and see

Good stuff - even without the strobes - the lighting looks nice and even... and the white balance seems pretty peachy on my monitor. Good action too - although, all my editor would say is "Where's the basket?"!!!
What exposure were you getting from the ambient?

gmen...I get asked where is the basket all the time, but gave up on getting the floor, body, ball, number, face and basket all in one shot like they want.
depending on the side of the court and direction i was aiming, 1/400~1/1000 @ iso800~iso1600 @ f2.0~2.8 if that makes sense...my basic range of settings in the court, each side has an almost 2 stop difference. The first half of games I can shoot @iso800 and get 1/500 or more if its close to me, the 2nd half I climb to 1600 and it ranges like crazy depending on where I aim...exposures during the 2nd half usually have my subjects darker, so Im constantly adjusting...
shooting raw seems to make a world of difference on the exposures too...before my backgrounds and skintones were always a tad off even though the WB was accurate for the jerseys...I decided to switch to RAW for the last 3 games and the color quality in photos has been great.
