Hi Dervish;

Nice enough shot - nothing wrong with it technically... Nice colours in the sky - I'm guessing later in the day... BUT... there's no point of focus to the image!

It's way too "busy" and the eye wanders all around without having anywhere to settle...

I think you'd be better off concentrating on some of the yachts on the left and on the reflections...

Hope that helps...

Cheers;

Lee

The PP is great. Looks like im right there but as Lee said, too busy. Needs a nice point of interest for your eyes to focus on.

Aside from what Lee said, I don't really like the lighting here either. If this was an evening shot, I'd try it again in the morning with the sun coming from the other direction (or vice-versa). Personally I'd also like to see a little more contrast and saturation...but that's just my personal taste there.

It's not really a "bad" shot, but it could be better.

Peace,
Jim

I would crop all the little boats out and concentrate on the large sails etc..that would give your photo a focal point of sorts.

I guess what i was after was to show the space rather than make the boats as the focus. I was thinking of using the boats to create rhythm, so that the largest boat on the right immediately captures your attention, then using the receeding boats to lead your eyes deeper into the pictur's perspective, much like say a landscape painting, and often in paintings your eye wanders and is taken into a journey then returns back out to take in the whole picture.
I have recropped the picture to remove the little boats to the left, do you think it looses some depth and sense of space? i also cooled the colours a tad and upped the saturation.
