I attented both days of the Jim Clark rally in sunny Scotland last weekend.

Some excellent action and lots of very impressive cars.

Here's my efforts:

1. Arriving early and getting all arty with the spectators.

2. The Suzuki Swifts are cracking little cars for rallying.

I did recognise one photographer from Croft (and presumably POTN), at the watersplash. Grey fleece with a monopod and what looked like a big Sigma. I would have said hello, but you looked as pi**ed off as I felt about the crowds.

This lot shot with a 20D and a 70-200 f2.8 IS except for the Swift which was a Sigma 30mm f1.4.

C&C always appreciated.

cheers

John.

John, that water splash shot has to be one of the best I've seen from any rally. Not often you get them sideways through the water. An absolute cracker. The others aren't half bad either. Well done for trying (very successfully) some different shots.

Did you feel your ears burning by any chance?

The names we were calling you. :p

I've got you in about 70 shots. :)

I think Ant makes No.3 a far more interesting image. I really like it.

In fact he has a knack of improving photos ... my favorite from the Pirelli has him in there ;)

Well I watched this rally on Sky yesterday and recognise some of the spots.Very quick event ,and was very sad to see the Guy Wilks mitsi on fire and destroyed. The crew was fine.

Some differant shots here, with 3 and 5 being standout, truly excellent.

Like the Landie shot and the Guy Wilks ,very dramatic.

Great work,
Pons

Nice work John.

It looks like you were between us and the corner in Ayton 1 for #4 ;)

As for Ant i reckon he does that deliberately. I have a few shots from last year's Trackrod with him in them. I believe the phrase is "Camera whore" :D

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Geoff, I remember a group of four or so togs, I assume you were in amongst.

There are some pics of the remnants of Guy Wilks Evo over of Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/chrisibbotson/

A good selection of shots John, I really like number 3 (even with Ant in it;)) and number 8, as for number 2 I can't decide whether I like it or not. When I first looked at it I thought no but, the more I look at it the more I like it (I think).

Cheers

Fantastic shots and #1 quirky but good. I think 5 is the best of the bunch though.

PS. The Landrover seems to be going the right way - I guess the Corporal must be doing the driving, the Sergeant map reading and the officer in the beer tent supervising. Change any of the positions around and you have a disaster on your hands.:):)

Not more Jim Clark photos Zzzzzzzz

Only joking

What di you do to No 2?

John Hudson
30th of May 2008 (Fri), 10:23
No.2 is as it came from the camera. No processing other than resize, sharpen and frame.

EXIF: ISO 100, 1/20, F14 (Tv Modes). Onboard flash used and I had something approaching -2 stopes of FEC dialled in because the reflective number plates were a problem.
