View Full Version : Short monopod for sports

Hi all,

One of the legs on my Bogen 650B locked up this weekend, which is OK because the monopod didn't "fit" my needs anyway. I sit down whenever I can for field sports, but the 650 is a little too tall for me at its shortest without straining my neck. In addition, I'm dumb and managed to knock the foot off.

Can anyone recommend a monopod that folds shorter - allowing someone less than 6 feet tall to sit comfortably with a Mark II's viewfinder reaching near their eye?

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with the 650 monopod, can't even find it in my catalog. Assuming it's one of the Neotec models, then any of the standard Bogen pods should fit your needs. How short do you need? Sitting down, I would think anything under 3 feet would suffice.

I use a Gitzo G1564 closed it is 22" I can use my 400 and sit on the ground with no problems, I am 5'7". I just ordered the Gitzo GM2341 this one is a little shorter at 19.3" closed but it has anti rotation legs.
