Hey Guys

Is it possible to tell if a panel is S-IPS by it's response time. I read on one occasion a comment by someone on the net "if it's the 16ms version it's a S-IPS, if it's a 8ms its a PVA/TN"

Anyone tell me if there is truth in it? Dell Australia have a sale on the 2007WFP panel until tommorow...I was gonna get one if it's S-IPS. The site says its 16ms.

Cheers
Chris

From flatpanels.dk (http://www.flatpanels.dk/panels.php): "Dell 2007WFP (*) (widescreen) has a 20 inch 16 ms S-IPS (LG.Philips LM201W01/LM201WE2) eller S-PVA (Samsung LTM201M1) panel."

They don't say what response time the S-PVA panel has however...

hmmm. I wonder if I should risk it

It's about the same price now as the similair sized TN screen (E207WFP). It's better then that, regardless wether its SPVA or SIPS....

What are your reasons for buying one?
You could always use it as a second screen ;)

There are no TN 2007WFP panels; all were either S-PVA or S-IPS. If you want to know for sure then check the serial numbers of your panels. If the last digit is "L" then it's an S-IPS. If the last digit is "S" then it's an S-PVA.

If you haven't actually bought them yet then you'll probably get S-IPS panels if you get the 2007WFP and S-PVA panels if you get the 2007FP, that's what I got on mine when I ordered (2) 2007WFP a couple months ago and (2) 2007FP a couple weeks ago.

EDIT: Orders were placed with Dell USA, not Australia, your mileage may vary.

yeah..ok stuff it. I'll just buy it.

My CRT is VERY dodgy, it's about 1 stop darker than the shot really is, and i cant boost it anymore via software nor monitor itself. Desk space is also an issue.

Mine is a SIPS and I really like it. Hope your buy proves a good one.

sweet! It's an S-IPS. $398 AUD... so about $380 USD :)

AND it means I can finally run dual monitors (one off digital one of anologue)
