Please have a look at my portfolio and leave any comments or thoughts on how to improve.
I've been shooting live shows now for around 8 months and will hope looking to develop my promo/studio photography later in the year.
My photographs have been pick-up by local newspapers and various web sites. My goal is to work part time for a publication.
Please find my portfolio here

Great pictures! The fact that you had Slash in there just made my day
You really get close and get super pictures...like the one focused on Slash's guitar with face in the background. Do you have press access? Or just get in the pit and hope for the best?

You made Pete Doherty look sober, that's a feat within itself!

Great set of pictures and looks very promising but I can't actually call this a portfolio in the technical sense but more of a showcase gallery.
I know if you have a physical portfolio, it will be full of pictures but an online portfolio should help you really dazzle your viewers. Your work is great don't get me wrong but seeing that it is part of flickr and I cannot find any direct contact details for you, which as a potential client, may put me off.
I think what makes a more appealing portfolio is possibly your list of equipment, or a bit about yourself and possible information on where you are planning to take it or are willing to do. That way you can help to filter out the "mates rates" clients from the real money.

Thanks for the comments. These are the kind of comments that will really get me thinking,
What are PR companies? (Public Relations) all bands ,artist, events, gigs, concert promotors have PR companies dealing with press and public relations.

What are PR companies? (Public Relations) all bands ,artist, events, gigs, concert promotors have PR companies dealing with press and public relations. From a company point of view, pictures do not tell me what I want to know. I want to know who I will be possibly employing, how long has a photographer been doing these things?, how dedicated will they be? Do they have equipment up to the job?
Public relations generally deal with feeding info to the press or to the public via articles or images. Questions like the above help them to possibly find answers in your work and use you more often.
If they see someone who has been doing it for a week and only does it when bored, they can read that rather than waste time emailing you, calling you to come shoot and find that out of 300 images, only 1 is useful.
I recently did the same and revamped my whole site. Just to streamline it as a portfolio. It should be quick enough to scan yet aesthetically pleasing enough to appreciate.
I went from http://clarity-rebirth.co.uk/home.html which has too much junk and pointless links (8 pages) down to the new look, http://clarity-rebirth.co.uk/v2/index.html with less (3 pages). Still a work in progress but think about who your site is aimed at and think about are images enough for you to get a job?
