The water wasn't blue, I know this... Other than that, your thoughts:

It looks slightly insipid in colour, i.e. there are very few tonal values - I'd have a check of your levels as I feel that you will find they are all bunched-upat one end!?
As for the composition I kind of like the placement of the birds and the boat - However, I do feel that the boat should be further to the right and traveling into the picture rather than almost out of the frame...it would have been nice to see more space for it to move into as you're eye tends to disegard that its trawling.
All in all its a pleasant image on the eye.
Cheers

Meerkat, thanks for the comments. It's not one of my best, but I do like the picture, but yeah it lacks a lot of good colors, mainly in the water being so flat (that's just galveston though :) )
I like the boat because it gives balance to the photo; the left and right arms specifically. The birds flying around it kind of make the photo, as well as give a perspective to the boat. The "Capt Hunter" is a nice touch on the front. Also if I had more water on the left ,the birds on the far right would have been cut out of the photo, that's why I framed it the way I did.
Thanks again.
