Phase One has pushed back the release of v3.6 for windows to mid Jan 2005. QC is the stated reason:

I expect more PC C1 people will either adopt ACR in the interm or purchase Bibble Pro which has extended their special for C1 owners to 1 Jan 05.

I've been on the edge myself, and getting closer every day.
I'm pretty sure that PhaseOne will lose another customer...

I can't even begin to express how frustrated I am with PhaseOne.
I've now used Canon's coversion software, C1 v3.5, ACR, and Bibble, and unfortunately, I find C1 to be the best all around package. It is completely unacceptable that PC C1 users are now looking at mid-January (at the earliest) for 20D support. That's about four months from the time I bought my 20D, a product that will probably have a life cycle of only two years.
PhaseOne should make camera support independent of new version releases. We know that version 3.5 supports CR2 files, so an update should have been out long ago adding support for the 20D.
I really hope Adobe improves the workflow of ACR, because I can't wait to put PhaseOne behind me!

I don't understand why, if they are testing a beta version, they don't release it as a public beta. It sure would get some really frustrated folks off their backs for a little while and let them keep some of those customers who are going to get comfortable with other software before they get the windows version out the door.

PhaseOne should make camera support independent of new version releases.
Suggestions to that effect was made many moons ago. I have heard that they are working towards plug-ins for new cameras. I think that will be a smart thing and all raw conversion programs should do the same as new cameras are released every year.

Quinn, I agree with you completely. It just irks the hell out of me that I like C1 the best out of all of them. It suits my workflow very well. I wish it wasn't as good becuase then I'd **know** that they lost a customer. Right now I still have to wait and see if I can grow attached to PS CS. But I simply hate the PS CS workflow as I'm stuck waiting far too often. This simply %@$&#@'s me off to no end.

I was a happy C1 Pro customer when I had the 300D.
But now, I am an even happier customer converting my 20D files with PS CS with the latest camera raw 2.3.
I for one will not switch back to C1 Pro unless the quality is a huge improvement over PS CS (which I doubt).

Oh for C1 3.6
Nothing beats it for workflow speed. I miss it now I have my 20D.
Breezebrowser is painfully slow. PS CS RAW is just clunky and I am yet to try bibble.
I am lucky, I will only be wothout C1 for a month (I Hope), I don't envy anyone who has been without it for longer

Richard, try Bibble. The interface is very different but it seemed to have a better workflow (for me). I thought it was very good, but if I'm going to spend that much I'd wait for C1. However, I may have to go back and give the newest Bibble a try again since I may never get a chance to get C1....

Scottes, I used Bibble for 10 days under the free trial. The workflow seemed good and similar to C1, but unfortunately I found it to be very unstable on my system. I think I'm going to just slog through ACR until C1 is available. Perhaps the worst thing is that I've got alot of RAW conversion work building up since I'm not converting as many shots as I normally would.

I suggest you try the trial version of Bibble v4.1 which is fully functional and stable. Once you have tried it I would like you to tell me what you find faster in C1 when it comes to workflow and conversion. I have both C1 Pro v3.5.1 and Bibble v4.1 and IMO Bibble is faster doing conversions and the workflow is just as good as C1.

This sucks. I woke up happy today thinking 20D support would be available today, because the last news I heard Dec 29 was the release date. Now this is BS :(

I think it's hilarious that the proggy that costs a few hundred $$ sits idle on my PC while I "Make do" with BB whch was less than Fifty $...

Since Canon Digital Photo Professional 1.5 has been available as an upgrade to download, I've been using that mainly. I like the results better than Capture One and there's no functionality that I miss from Capture One.
I will upgrade to 3.6 when it's finally available, but I'm not going to pay for the next non-free upgrade.
I hope they have finally fixed some of the bugs that have been there in the last few versions......

it's been killing me too. i've been using ACR, but C1 is way faster for me. i also get better results with C1. i'got SE, and they're promising a free upgrade to pro on it's next rlease ( you know, even nikon gets stuff to market faster than C1 ). :( guess i should have bought a Mac.
