In case anybody here hasn't heard, Westcott has just announced a photo contest where they will be endorsing 100 photographers in the United States. It’s called their 100 Top Endorsed Pros. The winners’ images may be used in national publications and each Pro will have their own page on the Westcott website. They just posted it here, www.fjwestcott.com (http://www.westcott.com/) take a look! This is an awesome opportunity for national exposure!

Are you a Westcott employee?

Definitely. Only one other post touting the benefits of Westcott equipment AND the user and the company are both in Toledo.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. :D We have many company reps here at POTN. It'd just be nice if they identified themselves as such.

...contestants grant Westcott and its agency unlimited usage rights. Every time an image is showcased, the photographer's name will appear somewhere next to or on the image.

Nice, but is this just a way for them to gather up unlimited use photos for their own catalogs? And the "agency" mentioned, they get unlimited usage rights too. What if Westcott and the "agency" part ways? They get to take the images with them too.

And what does "unlimited" mean? You may stop to think, "Well, they get to use it all they want." But what if it can also mean "We get to license your image for use to ANYONE for ANY use." Hmmm.... unlimited....

Westcott no longer uses an outside advertising agency - everything is done internally now so there is no worry about a third party getting unlimited rights to any images. Any images for this event will strictly be for displaying how imagemakers are using Westcott products. Westcott has not and will not ever solicit images offered to them to other parties.

This is simply an opportunity to recognize talent in the industry and give something back.

I am sorry for not mentioning that I also work for Westcott. I am their Technical Representative. But, more importantly, I am a professional photographer. I have been using their products for years before I even thought of working for them.
