ST-E2 question

for those that still have their boxes, does the serial number on the box match the number stamped underneath the ST-E2? or is the number underneath actually a datecode - my number appears 0U0xxx


I'm filling in a valuation form since I've got more bits & bobs now & need serial numbers of the gear to get it all insured...

Mine does not match the box. The number on the box is 2478A002[AA], I think it's a generic code for all ST-E2. There's no serial number on the warranty card either.
