Wacom Tablets size vs screen size

I am looking at getting a Wacom tablet, I have a Dell 24" Widescreen, so I need a tablet with an aspect ratio close to this. Two of the Bamboo models, the 6x4 and 6x9 are close to this, however the man in the shop says they are too small to be practical for my screen resolution (1920x1200).

Any thoughts on the matter? Anything larger than the Bamboo 6x9 is out of my budget.

I use a 6X9 on my 24" Dell. It works for me. Of course I'm a gadget guy, and would love a larger Wacom, but I don't feel as if it'd affect my workflow. It depends on how you work I suppose.

i have a graphire 5x8 and it's just fine no matter what screen i use it on (20"Imac G5 or 19"LCD or 17" CRT). you can have it map to your entire screen area if you need to (which may result in you drawing a perfect circle on your tablet and ending up with an elipse oncreeen)- or just 'crop' the drawing zone so it matches the aspect of your screen. If you'll be using photoshop or other painting/editing programs, you'll be able to zoom in or out of the document while editing so i've never found screen size is reallya problem

I have the Wacom Intuos3 A4 Oversize (12" x 12") and an iMac 24". The aspect ratio doesn't match (tablet is a square, iMac is not) and it doesn't throw out my drawing much at all, the only problem is when tracing something. But when I trace something, I either do it normally and just press "apple + t" and squash it until it matches, OR i make it so the tablet only affects a cropped area, thus resulting in a perfect match.

I use a 6x11 Intuos table to cover the area of two 20" widescreen monitors so 6x9 is more than big enough for a 24" screen. I'd even go so far as to say that even the 4x6 would fit the bill if you don't intend to do extensive graphics art type drawings or paintings on it (I use a 3x5 tablet with my other computers). As for the aspect ratio, the tablet can be set so that any aspect ratio and any part of the tablet can be used. You are not restricted to using the entire tablet area if you don't want to.

I agree. I use the 3x5 for my 24 inch Dell widescreen and have no problems. I only use it for detail work on my photos so I tend to zoom in quite far though.

Went for the 6x9 as that was still affordable for me, seems to do the trick if I can get my 5 year old away from the PC now, she loves it :rolleyes:

You'll loveit Pete if you can get close to it! :) I wouldn't be without mine, now that I have gotten comfortable with it.
