Hi

Has anyone heard of a RedSnapper Tripod or even own one (yes - did a search and no results :)) ? Seems interesting as it comes with a reversible centre column and extends upto about 5 feet.

Linky here (http://www1.clikpic.com/Redsnapper/photo_1036442.html)

I know all that about "getting what you pay for" etc etc but I am a great beleiver in trying out cheaper products and I evaluate quality by checking out forums for user comments. I compromise on a bit of quality for cheaper price but try to get value for money though.

So just trying to gauge if anyone here uses this and whether there are better alternatives - all the alternatives I have checked (manfrotto) are atleast 30-40% higher in price

There was some discussion over at Talk Photography. They also have a forum discount thread here (http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=55162)

I'm sure they'll do a job but not sure they'll do any better job than all the other sub-£150 options from the likes of Slik, Manfrotto, Dynatran, etc. Unless something is clearly a unique bargain I stick to established brands as resale usually better. Seems the fuss over there is driven by just a few people. How much experience they have in tripod use or alternatives is hard to judge. The ballheads do look a decent option. Again, whether they are better than something like the manfrotto 488 RC2 I dunno.

Hi Brian

Got any pics of your tripod? Perhaps any comparison with other tripods you have used ? I am still on the fence on whether to go for a manfrotto or this one - your review might help :)
