I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for the D60 to become cheaper - well not for awhile anyway. When it was released, it was a little cheaper than the D30. I am constantly amazed at the technology of the D60 but how I wish Canon would do something about Zoombrowser software. But that's another story! You may be able to find a D30 (I'm sorry but I don't know what country you live in) but beware of folks selling them on eBay. If you can find a D30 at a reputable reseller, then check it out. The money you save can be put to good lenses then maybe a little later on when you are familiar with the D30, you can update to the D60 or maybe the D90?
Cheers

It's $2200 for the body kit with battery and charger (needed). It'still on backorder at most shops, so you can't expect the cost to come down anytime soon.
The D60 has driven the cost of the D30 to nearly half its original price though, a good deal!

Hi,
The D30 came out at $3000 (a couple years ago?). The d60 came out at about $2200 and Canon dropped the price for the D30 to the same as the D60. Any dealers that had any got stuck with the D30 and has to drop the price to sell them. If you can find one you might get a good deal.
The D60 in my opinion was a breakthru in the camera industry. It is the first Digital camera of good quality that was a true system camera (multitudes of quality lenses and accessories) that was affordable to the general public. I have been Canon film cameras for about 12 years, waiting for an affordable digital. I shoot wildlife photos and film/developing costs can get out of hand, but the D60 makes is some much easier/cheaper. Yesterday I was photographing some butterflies (trying to get reference shots of the bottom of the wing) and shot of about 60 shots in about 1/2 hour. On a film camera that adds up.
I don't think the price is going to change anytime soon, but you never know what the future has in store...
