I've been looking through these forums all evening and there is some truly great stuff posted here. Decided to toss up a couple of mine and see how they do. These were done on an S230 which I just traded in for an A95. As far as exact settings I have no idea, they were both taken awhile ago.
The first one is taken on the beach in Shediac, New Brunswick and the second just outside Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Both have been poked and prodded in Photoshop, the first to bring out some definition in the sky, which was really blown out, and the other to clean up some noise and jpeg artifacts in the sky and especially the water.

Nice shots. If you're going to be posting alot of pictures, I would suggest getting an account that you can host the pictures yourself. You'll then be able to post larger pictures :)
You shouldn't have any regrets going to the a95 :)

Your first one isn't bad, but that second one is pretty good. It would have been really outstanding if you had had a more dramatic sky, but you can't always have everything. I'd love to get one like your second shot.
One small thing on your second one... you need to lower the right side just a tad, my .5 CW rotation.

Welcome to the forum. I love the movement in you first shot, but #2 is a real good shot. I agree with the suggestions already posted.

I like the second picture the best. I think if #1 was cropped at the bottom, it would help it flow better.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I'm actually kind of new to photography, the S230 I got for Christmas 2 years ago and probably put about 1000 shots through it - enough to know that I liked what I was doing, a lot, but not really enough to get, er, good.
As far as the first picture goes, I like its colours and the texture of the grass, as far as cropping it I actually wish I had a little more of the sand on the bottom, so it was kind of a 1/3 sand, 1/3 grass, 1/3 sky composition - that would have been neat, I think.
The second picture I was lucky to get, as I was being eaten alive by blackflies at the time, it was early evening and they were out in force. Took about a dozen attempts and only this one turned out. I actually wish there was more to it, the water was oily smooth, the sky really doesn't have much of interest, so there's not much to recommend it other than a decent compostion - no textures, really.
Anyway, I'll post more soon, I have a couple pics I think I'll put up in the people section. And I'll look into some hosting so that I can put up some larger images.

Excellent first post!
The second shot is serene, clean and memorable. Everyone else likes it - so do I. It would be an instructive composition study for a photography class. It's one of those images that is there to capture for a relatively brief moment and then gone forever. Well done.
OTOH - the first shot has a few elements of a good shot - but not enough. You probably can go back to that spot and get a better composition and perspective. The sand and tall grass in the foreground work nicely. But the other elements of the shot need re-thinking. Also, good clouds can help make a pic. You now have better equipment (A95) to get your clouds exposed more accurately. Mother Nature makes better clouds than Photoshop.
Enjoy your A95 - great digicam!
