Hi all,
Seems that this board is dying out. People post on 'Sharing' but not here. It's always nice to hear that others like your pics, but it doesn't help you to IMPROVE. Isn't that what we all want?
I want AND need more HARSH critique to achieve improvement.
Comments?

I haven't really noticed too much difference in volume lately myself. I think those that want true criticism post here, and those that prefer kinder comments or just to feel a part of our "community" post in the sharing forum.
I try to offer constructive criticism when I can, but am just an amateur so am often unsure of terminology and whether my comments are correct or just my own perspective. Until I'm a little more educated and experienced, I'll probably continue to take it fairly easy on people and err on the supportive side with my comments. I suspect other feel similarly, even though most of us appreciate constructive criticism.

I occasionally will post something here that I'm proud of for the criticism. If I criticize it too much myself it doesnt' come here. However I haven't the knowlege or the talent to produce criticism of my own. Maybe others are in a similar boat...

Some people just want to hear what other people think, without the harsh criticism. Thats what the sharing section is for. Personally, I like to post in the Critique section, because it helps me become better just like you said henkbos. Often when I take a picture, I think it's great, but when I put it up to professional review, I learn that my composition is wrong, or the colors seem washed out, or whatever it may be.
I think all is as it should be, but I agree it would be nice to see more people posting here.

I like to post photo's in critique when there are certain things about the photo that just doesn't jive for me. The ones I put in the photo sharing are usually ones I'm fairly happy with but Critique is always welcome wherever I post. There may be something that just makes a photo a bit better that I've missed.
I don't beleive that I'm experienced enough to give much critique so I stay somewhat quiet.

I think this critique is invaluable to the photographer. It always allows me to see the photograph in a different way. It expands the creative process for me, and the replies are always tactful. I might not agree with every post, but that is why I am looking for alternate opinions.
