Here is a tip with what to do and what not do do with this forum.
What to do:
Turn Off Caps! ;)
As far as the camera is concerned, that question is too vague.
Grab your self some coffee, and have a read at some of the great posts in this forum.
You will find lots of helpful information.
Once you have a specific question, come back and ask and the helpful and friendly people here will be more than hapy to answer.
Also, don't forget to read the manual from cover to cover.

Yep, excellent idea, I still pick up stuff doing that, there have been quite a few questions asked on this forum, that are clearly answered in the manual (the files being named _MG_xxxx is one that comes to mind!).
What sort of shooting will you be doing, that might help narrow down things a little, but do read the forums, heaps of great stuff here

NEED SOME TIPS ON WHAT TO DO AND NOT TO DO WITH NEW CAMERADO:
Take off the lens cap
Take some pictures
DON'T:
Drop it!!!
Leave it sitting on a table where a child can grab it and toss it like a rock (my nephew did that to my first digital camera . . .good thing he did... it was a Nik*n)
;) ;) ;) ;)
Sorry . . . feeling kinda silly at 2:30am EST . . . I'm still new at photography, so i'm one of the last people you'd want to hear do's and don'ts from. I will say this . . .
Get their advice and Practice! Practice! Practice! I've learned so much from this forum and I see my pictures getting better and better.
Good luck with the new camera and welcome to the forum!
