There is an internet worm that destroys phpBB websites. :mad:
I see that the forums here are now running on vBulletin instead of phpBB.

Its running vBulletin because it was hit by that worm....

And my own phpBB forum was hit too :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

No it wasn't. It was hit by hackers, not a worm.

I know at least 12 sites that have gone down because of this - when people use scripts they should check for, and download updates.
The update was released over a month ago. Had those people taken the time to update their forum they would still be online!

No it wasn't. It was hit by hackers, not a worm.
though the same vulnerability though!

My 2 sites using PHPBB were "attempted unsuccessfully" about 6 hours after I upgraded.

I am in the process of losing phpbb and going with something else, but with busy sites it is hard to take them down to migrate.

Yeah a real bummer but its my own fault, I could just have kept update with the software :( :( And the real nummer is that the very same evening (literally a few hours before) it got hit I received an email from another forum I use with a reminder to upgrade....

But I will get one good thing out of this. A user of one of my sites has offered to host my site for free, he did offer this previously but this time I will accept the offer.

As for my photosite(s) I am looking for a realiable and reasonable fast host. I will probably only use my own server as storage for the actual photos.
