Hi guys, looking for some advise on cleaning up a couple of pics. I've recently got a bunch of my favourite film shots professionally scanned to digital format so I can mess around with them, put a nice border and title on and print them off.

A couple of the shots are suffering from a lot of noise. What's the best way to get rid of this using Photoshop (5 or Elements 2)?

Here's one of the shots:

You might want to consider a program that specializes in removing color noise, like Neat Image.

---Bob Gross---Just downloaded the demo version (http://www.neatimage.com/download.html) and was very impressed with the results!

I took the liberty of running the posted pic through it and here is the result (http://www.steve-perks.com/gfx/filtered.jpg):

It would be useful if one were able to open non-raw files in Camera Raw. Then you could use its noise reduction features... Seems like this wouldn't be too hard--just use the inverse of the gamma conversion (or whatever takes the raw linear gamma and converts it to non-linear. Also, is it possible to have scans done in a RAW format?

Thanks guys, that program looks like a lot of help. The processed version of my pic shows a big difference. Thanks very much
